ORIGINALS X PUSHA T X COMPLEXCOM (2019)

A lot of set design, a bunch of logistics, and some misdirection in the process. Oh, Fun.

STORY TIME: This project started off big and ended off grand. It began with an ask to build out a footprint at Complexcon to bring visibility and impressions to 5 new sneakers in the adidas family, with emphasis on the Pusha T EQT, and launch the first of its kind music competition

The inspiration behind the buildout was the movies Wolf of Wallstreet & American Psycho.

I had the opportunity work with designers and fabricators from all over to create custom giveaways for the event. As you know the brand uses a couple different logos. For this event I went with the three stripe design. Got in contact with my rep, ordered 400 hoodies, got them customized for event giveaways. Got the hoodies back and went on to other last bits of planning…That was until i got a text from my director saying the hoodies should’ve had the trefoil on it. That meant the hoodies were unusable. Luckily, my director had a contact that could rush design 350 hoodies overnight. Perfect. Got the hoodies, gave them away, people loved them (picture to the Left). They were even being resold for upwards of $500. Post event, While looking at shoe thoroughly, I noticed that the shoe had both logos on it. After talking with my director, we realized could’ve used the 1st batch of hoodies. A false alarm. So what did I do with the “bad” hoodies?…I donated them to the Boys & Girls Club. Definitely a win in the end.

Another component of the event was a sportswear/music campaign launch. The first of its kind, adidas SoundLabs music competition. I was given the opportunity to PM the design of the music submission website, correspondence between judges and selected talent in the competition, and Event Day ROS. This entailed that I work with UX/ UI teams to design a website that would allow musicians to learn about the music competition and submit their music to be considered. After 1000 submissions, Judges were able to select 15 finalists that would be interviewed by Pusha T. Finalists would have their music heard and ideas discussed during the 2-day complexcon events, 7 people on day 1, and 8 on day 2. It was my first introduction to the world of production and UX logistics and I made sure it wouldn’t be my last. A spark was lit.
